Everyone wants to have a peaceful life, not getting into trouble, not suffering from hunger, and not afraid of death.

In the book, people don’t have the experience of fear, pain, and even excitement.

They have abandoned the differential characteristics to be same.

Jonas, 12 year old, was chosen to become a “receiver”. The role is inheriting everything people have gone through in their history such as happiness like love and also sadness like a war.

As Jonas meets to The Giver, who gives knowledge and wisdom, he reaches to the truth and makes a huge decision, which is....

The book reminds me of “the allegory of the cave”.

When a man looks for truth, he suffers from painful to see it. And when he finds the truth, he can’t come back to who he used to be.

全てがコントロールされている完璧な世界

ユートピアのように聞こえるが果たして本当にそうなのか？

12歳になると働く先も決められる

旦那さんや奥さんも決められる

子供も選ばれる

混乱を招くからといって色の概念もない

好きという感情を持つと薬でそれを抑える

ただし、この世界の住人はこれらが当たり前なので疑わないでそれを受け入れる

SF小説ですが、なかなか深い内容となってます

ページ数はそこまででもないですが、出てくる単語が少し難しく感じるかと思います

本書が原作の映画「ギヴァー 記憶を注ぐ者(原題: The Giver)」を観てから読み始めるとストーリーが分かっているので内容が理解しやすいと思います
